trasa najczesciej dzielona jest na 4 dni (mozna ja zrobic w 2 do 5dni) ponadto mozna ja przedluzyc o kolejne 25km idac z thorsmork do skogar (najczesciej rozkladane na 2 dni z noclegiem w schronisku fimmvorduhals)
przez najblizsze 3 posty skupie sie na opisie trasy I zdjeciach z poszczegolnych odcinkow treku, wstawie tez osobny post ze wszystkimi dodatkowymi informacjami, ktore moglyby sie przydac jesli ktos zdecyduje sie na odbycie tej niezwyklej przygody :)
a teraz skupmy sie na pierwszym odcinku (oraz pierwszym dniu) treku laugavegur.
w koncu po ponad 4 godzinach jazdy z reykjaviku dojechalysmy do landmannalaugar!
nie moglysmy sie juz doczekac, autobus jechal dosc powoli zatrzymujacsie w kilku miejscach I zabierajac dodatkowych pasazerow. w koncu jednak dojechalysmy I nie mozecie sobie nawet wyobrazic jakie bylysmy szczesliwe. w koncu zaczyna sie nasza tak dlugo wyczekiwana przygoda. przez nastepne 4 dni mialysmy zmierzyc sie nie tylko z islandzkimi gorami, pogoda, ale rowniez pokonac swoje slabosci.
jak mowilam, trek zaczyna sie w slynnym miejscu landmannalaugar. jest to miejsce nieziemskie. rozlewisko rzeczne otoczone gorami oraz polem lawowym. kazdy chyba slyszal o islandzkich 'teczowych gorach'. tak, to tutaj. kolor gor zmienia sie od szarego, pomaranczowego, brazu, zieleni, zolci, czerni nawet do niebieskiego.
w landmannalaugar znajduje sie tez gorace zrodlo, fajny sposob na odswiezenie przed dlugim trekiem. znajduje sie tu schronisko, autobus dojezdza 2 razy dziennie. nie koniecznie trzeba wybierac sie na wielodniowy trek - stad rozchodza sie tuziny szlakow, tak wiec mozna zostac na tutajszym kampingu kilka nocy I polazic tylko po tej okolicy -jestem pewna ze juz samo to zrobi niesamowite wrazenie!

apparently this is the most famous long distance trek in Iceland. some call it laugavegur, some laugavegurinn, but anyway - we're talking about the 53km / 35miles trek from landmannalaugar to thorsmork. the trek is usually done over 2-5 days (usually 4 days), can be extended by another 25km / 17miles (from thorsmork to skogar over fimmvorduhals pass, usually done in 2 days)
over next 3 posts I will focus on trek description and pictures, later I will load another post with all the necessary and additional info - this will come very handy if anybody decides to live this adventure and walk the laugavegur walk.
and now, let's focus on the first stage (and first day) of the 53km laugavegur walk.
finally, after over 4 hrs journey by bus from reykjavik, we arrived to landmannalaugar!
we couldn't wait, it was a rather slow drive (half the journey on mountain roads) and bus stopped 3 times to pick up more hikers. but finally, there we were, and how happy! this long awaited adventure was expected to test us - our endurance against Icelandic weather, mountains, difficult terrain as well as against our own weaknesses.
as I mentioned above, the trek starts in the famous landmannalaugar- breathtaking, amazing place - wide valley with several streams and river cutting thru, lava field.. and the mountains! I guess everyone heard about Icelandic famous 'rainbow mountains'. yep -it's here. mountains' colour goes from grey, orange, red, brown, green, yellow to blue. yes, blue.
there is a hot spring in landmannalaugar -brilliant way to refresh before the long trek. what else is there: hut, school-bus café (2months a year), bus comes twice a day. when coming here it is perfectly fine just to stay couple of nights on the campsite and just walk the nearby mountains - this will provide enough opportunities to 'feel' and experience this unique place on earth.

jestesmy w landmannalaugar! jestem taka szczesliwa ze chce mi sie ryczec :) wszystko mi sie podoba (przez najblizsze 3 dni bede bez przerwy osikana ze szczescia..) aha - to kamping jest :) kamping w landmannalaugar slynie z tego, ze jest tu wietrznie. co wiecej, tak wietrznie, ze straznik dostarcza kamienie, ktorymi trzeba przygniesc namiot kiedy sie w nim nie siedzi! (jak sie przekonamy pozniej, kamienie sa potrzebne nawet gdy sie w namiocie siedzi..)
at landmannalaugar! I am so happy I almost cry :) I love everything here (next 3 days I will love everything I see and be over the moon..)
by the way -this is the campsite :) this one is famous for windy weather. very windy weather. so windy that the warden provides large rocks to be put on the tent (or lines) while you're not in it (so it wouldn't fly away)... but as we will experience next day, sometimes you need the rocks even when you actually are inside the tent...
do landmannalaugar mozna dojechac zwykla osobowka (sa 3 drogi dojazdowe, jedna z nich nadaje sie dla 'normalnych' samochodow - droga F208. niemniej najczesciej widuje sie terenowki 4x4 albo takie cudenka :)
it is possible to drive to landmannalaugar just a 'normal 'car (3 roads to landmannalaugar, F208 accessible to any type vehicle) but anyway, usually we could see 4x4 driving those mountain roads, quite often even those lovely babes :)

quickly we have some lunch and even quicker we run to change (yep, we have swimming suits!) and have a dip in hot springs here

the place is fantastic - 'cold' river meets 'hot' river, water mixes and whether you like water really hot or maybe little bit cooler, you'll find a spot of joy :) just don't bury your fingers in the sand on river bottom, it's burning hot

... in all hot springs or hot rivers there were fancy flora/river weed forms, usually disgusting.. but who cares!

in most places in Iceland the sulphury-smelly places are fenced or at least bordered with something (stones, poles) to discourage people from wandering straight into it. no wonder, falling into this burning, hot, smelly clay wouldn't be pleasant..

grey 'stains' on the ground, just like pictured above, usually mean some geothermal activity, in other words - smelly smoke. apparently it's the sulphur coming from the deeper layers of earth that melts rhyolite rocks into a grey clay

we reach storihver. here the journey becomes less pleasant - lots of wet snow covers the ground, and it's raining properly now. to ne honest, from this point on we will have to endure rather wet contitions and minimal visibility. but still we have no problem regarding further direction of the walk - firstly footprints of people who walked before us, secondly -the small wooden poles marking the track.

I imagine this place looks like this often, there is a high pole finished with red light in the pass between hrafntinnusker and sodull, so walkers knew where to go. from the light walk down another 300yards to the hrafntinnusker hut
